Muriel LaMois was a Winter and Spring 2018 Zetema Project Fellow. Ms. LaMois contributed to the preparation and facilitation of multiple Zetema Project meetings, including conducting research and producing written materials on provider regulation, scope of practice laws, Medicare’s reporting requirements for provider reimbursement, Meaningful Use, and the cost implications of regulation.
Ms. LaMois currently works as a senior business process specialist at Public Consulting Group where she supports government agencies, community-based organizations, and direct service providers in improving the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve. This has included operating as a member of the Quality Improvement Unit for Alameda Care Connect, a Whole Person Care pilot, where she works to build effective coordination across the continuum of care for Medicaid enrollees experiencing homelessness who face highly complex physical, behavioral, and social challenges.
While pursuing her MPH at UC Berkeley, Ms. LaMois worked as a quality analyst intern at Covered California, a graduate student researcher at the Berkeley Center for Health Technology, and as a research consultant at the Pacific Business Group on Health. At PBGH, Ms. LaMois co-authored the California Health Care Foundation-funded paper, “Weaving Together Mental and Physical Health Care Outside the Safety Net.”
Prior to her graduate studies, Ms. LaMois was a project manager at the Kaiser Permanente Institute for Health Policy, where she successfully planned multiple conferences and facilitated the editorial process behind the publishing of white papers on a wide range of topics including health technology, drug pricing, and improving health care delivery. She previously served as chief of staff for a state delegate in the Virginia General Assembly, advising on policy, drafting legislation, developing communications, and working with constituents and advocacy groups.
Ms. LaMois holds an MPH from UC Berkeley with a concentration in Health Policy and Management and a BA from the College of Wooster.
